1. Here’s a crappy gif I made of Dan installing some mirrors in our dining room bar. BOOM. More info here.

  3. Major GPOY online and in print: an article about our house just came out in the January / February issue of R•Home Magazine, on newsstands now. It’s aptly titled “Modern Gothic.”

Can’t believe nobody wanted to listen to all my show tunes on vinyl!

  6. I love that I come home and Sophie’s just sitting in the parlor all proper, waiting for her afternoon tea or something. #cats #home #yesiwillserveyou (Taken with Instagram)

  7. Just a little blast from the past, in the spirit of what a pretty morning it is, and how great it is to appreciate and enjoy the things you love without tearing other things down. And this is also relevant.

  8. We finally had our open house this weekend! I had an amazing time and I’m so thankful for the motley cast of characters who filtered in and out of the house throughout the day. We love you all so much.

Renovation slideshow (before & after pics!) is here, more photos of the open house are here.

  9. Here’s another one to file under “things Tess does on days off and evenings.” For the past month or so I’ve been focused on finishing the dining room: pre-painting as many pieces of wood as possible, waiting for the carpenters to put them all together and nail them up, and then completing the project with wood-filling and painting. I finished painting the wainscoting earlier this week, and finished the coffered ceiling around 1am last night.

This year-and-a-half-long nightmare is done, as far as my projects go. Saying I’m exhausted would be an understatement, but I’m also relieved. Can’t wait to spend my weekends doing other things! To all of you who have helped, listened, encouraged, or just put up with me during this renovation, seriously, thank you.

    More on Flickr, as always.
